ACADEMIC ANNOUNCEMENTS

Spring Quarter Elective Registration
Second-year full-time and second and third-year evening MBAs: Believe it or not, bidding for spring quarter electives and advanced core options begins next week, with bidding opening on February 4. You can get a headstart on the process by taking a look at the tentative spring schedule on our website as well as the MBA Registration Calendar.

First-Year Full-time and Second-Year Evening MBAs: Advanced Core Options
First-year Full-time and second-year Evening MBA students have priority for registration in Advanced Core Options (previously called bridge electives) courses. These courses are offered during spring quarter only and designed to give you more in-depth knowledge about a topic than your core class. Students will bid for advanced core options in a separate process from the general elective course bidding. To learn more about the bidding procedures, please plan to attend one of the information sessions detailed below.

First-Year Full-Time MBAs: Because spring is the first quarter you will be bidding for elective classes, an informational workshop on degree requirements, the bidding process and timelines will be held:

  • Tuesday, January 27, 10:30-11:20am, Balmer 303
  • Wednesday, January 28, 12:30-1:20pm, Balmer 303

Second-Year Evening MBAs: Information sessions for those of you who would like a refresher on the bidding process (or for those that weren't able to attend the initial workshops) will be held:

  • Monday, January 26, 5:00-6:00pm, Balmer 312
  • Wednesday, January 28, 5:00-6:00pm, Balmer 312

Winter Quarter Graduation
If you intend to complete your degree requirements in winter quarter, you need to apply for graduation with the UW Graduate School by March 13. If you wish to check the requirements that remain for you to complete your degree, please email mbaregis and we will do a degree check.

MBA Graduation Ceremony 2009
The graduation ceremony for full-time and evening MBA students is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 7:00pm. For those of you who will be graduating in winter or spring quarter 2009, please become familiar with the graduation information on the MBA website. In the words of Elizabeth Enneking, to effectively put on the C4C Auction, "We are going to need an army!" Please come to the volunteer informational meeting on Monday, January 26 at 12:30pm in Balmer 417 to hear about how you can help.

Also, if you have any donation to make to procurement (an unopened Christmas present?), keep in mind that there will be opportunities for bundling. So even if you think your item might not stand alone for the auction, there will be some creative pairing/grouping going on. Get in touch with Maria if you have an questions.

Even if you can't come to the meeting, please mark your calendar to attend the gala and auction on February 28, 2009 at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center in Seattle.
