     Mixing Business with Pleasure

Students, faculty and staff can diversify their personal portfolios with life outside the classroom, beyond spreadsheets and away from work. The Michael G. Foster School of Business, University of Washington campus and surrounding Seattle area offer ample opportunities to take physical and mental breaks, socialize and broaden one's horizons.

Tour the Burke Museum, Henry Art Gallery, take in a show or take a dance class at Meany Hall for the Performing Arts, attend a Husky game (football, basketball, you name it), rent kayaks, canoes, or simply attend a BBQ or join a club. There's something for everyone at the Foster School.

Four signature Foster School of Business events typify how ties between students, faculty, alumni, business leaders and staff are kept alive and well.

1. Business Leadership Banquet

Business leaders are honored at this annual awards banquet, the School's premier event of the year. Proceeds fund diversity scholarships for Foster School students.

2. Business Plan Competition

The Foster School of Business Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship hosts an annual business plan competition in which teams from the Foster School and other area schools compete for a $25,000 grand prize.

3. Leaders to Legends - Dean's Breakfast Lecture Series

This nine-month breakfast series is an opportunity to network with faculty and meet the dean while learning about the vision and successes of the Foster School of Business.

4. UW Business Week

The largest student-organized Foster School event gives undergraduates a chance to shine, putting business skills to practice by planning, marketing and hosting (plus socializing at) the four-day event.
