CIE Ph.D. Program

Through the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship and its activities, the University of Washington produces an educated entrepreneurial workforce for the state and contributes to the economic vitality of the region and nation. Supporting this aim, the UW Business School offers a Ph.D. program with a major area of specialization in Technology Entrepreneurship. The specialized program creates strong intellectual leaders in the field and offers a source of talent for universities around the world.

CIE has assembled a core group of faculty that collectively bridges the divide between technology development and commercialization. Specialists from the UW Business School (in strategy, marketing, management, finance, and operations), and from UW science and technology programs in engineering, bioengineering, nanotechnology, photonics, chemistry and law address critical areas of research and education. The program focuses on multiple areas of technology entrepreneurship such as technology development, technology assessment, technology commercialization and licensing, and the new-venture creation process.
